Your social calendar fills up fast during the holiday season: Gift exchanges, cookie exchanges (yea–it’s a thing), holiday office parties, dinners with family and friends… all good stuff of course! But it can get expensive.
And we are having a difficult time coming up with anything different to wear to all of these soirees! Not a bad problem to have, let’s be honest. But because we’d rather not be seen in the same sequin dress eight times this holiday season, here are some tips to help.
Party with friends
Obviously either a bright red or sparkly frock seems like the easy answer for your holiday parties. But what if say… you haven’t yet “invested” in a bright red or sequined dress but you still want to show off your holiday spirit? We recommend grabbing your go-to LBD and let the accessories take care of the rest! Show off your shiny gold jewelry, strappy heels, bedazzled ring, and opt for a bold red lip and a higher-than-high top knot.
Regarding dress style, feel free to go with a more fitted or flirty silhouette since you’re in a more casual setting among friends! We love the twirl of a skater skirt for rocking around the Christmas tree.
The dreaded office party
Ahh the holiday work party. Whether it’s yours or your significant other’s, it’s always tricky walking the fine line where appropriate meets fun. This not only goes for what to say and how much to drink, but the age-old question of what to wear when your amongst bosses and coworkers.
In order to maintain a sense of professionalism, the vote is for keeping it conservative on this one. A looser silhouette, and sleeves make a dress more seasonably appropriate. Keep the color festive without being too loud, and we jazz it up with baubles, statement heels, and a sparkly clutch in a classic shape.
Heading Home for the Holidays
Does anyone else love the idea of never getting out of PJs when they’re home for the holidays? So do we. But let’s say it’s a more formal gathering. Or… someone else’s home you’ve been invited to where slippers wouldn’t be the most appropriate footwear in which to arrive. What do you wear then? You’ll be lounging, playing with kids on the floor, eating half a dozen cookies or more… you want to be comfortable but chic. Enter Fun Sweater Dress. It’s warm, seasonal, cozy, and oh so cute. Pair it with tights and leather or suede booties or pumps.
